Katie Sawicki: Collaborative, Creative, and Strategic Planning
“Hope is always accompanied by the imagination; the will to see what our physical environment seems to deem impossible. Only the creative mind can make use of hope, only a creative people can wield it.”
-Jericho Brown
Strategic Planning, short-term work planning, and organized movement building planning can be as creative, impactful, and implementable as you want it to be! I work with small advocacy organizations/ groups/ networks, social and racial justice funders, and health systems to vision and engage in intentional mission and values-aligned planning through a liberation and transformative justice framework. I work closely with partners to design processes that center on community-informed practices—meaning the people that are impacted most by your mission strongly inform the process. I believe in uplifting and address the needs of the organizers, staff, and community members on the ground advancing the organization’s work.
Each Strategic Planning process looks different and can include everything from establishing and/or affirming a Theory of Change, values creation, in-depth Discovery processes (including environmental scans, 1-on-1's, data analysis of existing community data, focus groups), organizational development, to follow up work planning.
I use varied facilitation approaches, including visual art, storytelling, and mapping, to support big-picture thinkers, in-the-weeds pragmatists, and the spectrum of people in between.
